Admissions

When you first contact Tilden School for information, we put your name, contact information, and your child's name and birth date on our interest list, at your request.

Kindergarten admissions

The January before your child starts kindergarten, we will send you an application. If you are still interested in a kindergarten place, return the application, along with a non-refundable $50 registration fee. (Please be sure you have visited Tilden before returning your application.)

Approximately eight weeks after applications forms are mailed, we begin filling the kindergarten. Siblings of current Tilden students have first priority for kindergarten placement. Remaining spaces are allocated to families based generally on their order on the interest list. You may request to remain on the interest list for later grades if space is not available in kindergarten.

Upon acceptance, we require a non-refundable two-month tuition deposit to secure your child's place in the class.

Grades one through five admissions

Please call the school for space availability in grades one through five; spaces for new students in these grades usually become available only if current students leave. The admission process for grades one through five is similar to the kindergarten registration, but it starts in mid-March. If you wish us to keep your name on the interest list, you must request us to do so each year.

Age requirement

Kindergarten students at Tilden need to be at least five years old by September 1 of the year they enter kindergarten. Students in subsequent grades have a corresponding age cut-off by September 1.
