At the Pacific Science Center Tilden’s fourth- and fifth-graders experienced Pompeii before and after its epic eruption 2,000 years ago. First, students learned about Pompeii’s advanced, thriving culture. Next, they were immersed in a CGI simulation of the fatal eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Finally, they examined body casts of Pompeii citizens who succumbed to the extreme heat and noxious gases of the eruption. A truly interesting and intense experience.
