Dr. Jorge Olaf Nelson

Head of School

A third generation educator, Dr. Jorge Olaf Nelson earned his Bachelors from Evergreen, Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from Michigan State, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from University of Memphis.

In 1985 he began teaching 6th Grade at International School, Bangkok, Thailand, then Middle/High School Shop classes at International School, Islamabad, Pakistan. His educational leadership roles include Assistant Superintendent, American School of Asuncion, Paraguay; Director General, Colegio Americano de Durango, Mexico; Superintendent, Anzoategui International School, Anaco, Venezuela; Head of School, Bali International School; Head of School & Middle/High School Principal, St. John’s Episcopal School, Guam; Founding Head of School, Chadwick International, Songdo, South Korea; Founding Head of School/Academic Director, Amadeus International School of Vienna, Austria; Middle/High School Interim Principal, Myanmar International School; Head of School, North Jakarta International School, Indonesia; Principal, Mountain View Elementary School & Theatre, Shelton High School, Washington; Interim Head of School, Balboa Academy, City of Knowledge, Panama; Head of School, Oak Grove Montessori School, Mansfield, Connecticut, and back to the PNW as Head of School at Tilden School in West Seattle.

Jorge considers Tilden an exemplary school that enables all students to use multiple intelligences for solving complex challenges to serve the world.
